Hey there all; having a little trouble and thought I'd toss it out to
y'all to see if someone might have some werdz of wizdom.
I'm in need to a virtual sampler program for Windows, which would play
different samples in response to MIDI notes in a live ONLY situation. I
just need to map 16 different samples to 16 different MIDI notes.
On first glance, this seems like a no-brainer, but it isn't. I tried
the top culprit, Gigasampler, which requires some sort of giga-compatible
sound card... my laptop's sound hookup won't cut it. So I figured okay,
next one on the list... let's try Seer's Reality v1.55. No dice; it wants
some sort of special access to the sound card, so similarly the lap doesn't
like it. Sigh.
I get the idea there might be some easy way to use Soundfonts with
this, but I haven't found it yet. Towards this extent I was trying Cakewalk
last night but didn't see any obvious way to make this all happen. Same
with Cubase.
Reaktor (either version 2.0 or 3.02) is good, but it's sampler module
is monophonic... I only need to have 16 keys trigger different things, it's
possible I could throw together a Reaktor ensemble with 16 different
sampler modules, but what a pain. Meanwhile Deesampler does work, but has a
pathetically difficult user interface for mapping the samples.
As you can see, I've tried quite a few things... it seems like I'm
missing something obvious here, but I haven't seen it yet. Any clues or
help? I'm on a deadline (leaving town Monday) and need to get this working
smoothly before then... eep! Thanks all,
- Mark
