Matt,
Are you off shore yet? Now don't you wish? Watch out for those mounted
police, they're not the "nice guys' they're made out to be. So what, now
you're supposed to get rid of all Canadian music only? You know, during the
cold war we kept a command center B-52 in the air AT ALL TIMES which could
direct our ICBMs if the landscape was destroyed. But this would probably be
no cheaper than moving off shore, actually. Obviously, no cogent philosophy
works on these copyrighted bastards and the damn business community is
determined to remove all free exchange and yoke every last iota of our
cultural output under their "pay or screw you" rules. No crack where
libertarian culture can grow shall remain unplastered. Capitalism is sad.
There is the increasingly plausible hope that we, their customers, will
increasingly see them as their own worst enemy, and they are certainly
doing everything in their power these days to make that public perception
come true, we'll see.
Fight this takeover in every way you can. Resist by dragging you feet in
every way possible. Become a thorn in their paperwork. Give this
bureaucracy a taste of their own point-oblivious tactics. Don't give up
your vision without making them and everyone else well aware of it. Go for
publicity in any way you can think of. If we ever get copyright's mits and
philosophy readjusted for Internet content, it will come after significant
and extensive RESISTANCE to it as it is. You are the next pawn in this trek
towards that end game...
