It's been suggested that they don't expect to make money from CD sales
drectly, but through merchandising which only has to do with Image. I don't
know how to defend this accusation, but I like its Orwellian overtones.

Absolutely. Currently there's an epidemic of corporate all-fathers telling
us they put a roof over our heads, don't we deserve your respect and
obedience, and if we don't like it we can rot in Siberia for all they care.
The recording industry makes most of its money from artists who are
currently DECEASED
