heh. and also misleading, even besides my previous points. it perpetuates
the myth that what we're doing is wrong, that it's theft.
>What does "musique concrete" have to do with sampling? I understand
that's kind of my point. all these areas are related but different. a
subset of musique concrete is sampling, at least conceptually (considering
rabbit's note about technology, none of Pierre Schaeffer's work was really
"sampling", but in spirit, it was, i think). We're looking at lots of
Circles that overlap, a venn diagram, i think it's called. all squares are
rectangles but not all rectangles are squares....

you're right about schaeffer partially. but some of his source material
was pre-existing recordings, if i'm not mistaken. but sampling doesnt
neccesarily mean copyright infringement either. again, there's a subset of
it that is infringement. and copyright infringement is a subset of
intellectual property law violation. and intellectual property is a form
of property. and property is a form of... well, never mind...
smh

thanx, that's very true!

"All we ever have is daily life. When so much of it is taken up
with doing things we don't particularly want to do, going through
motions of being who we don't particularly want to be, our lives
are slipping away. As one uneasy hectic day follows another,
many workers yearn for a substantive remedy. Dilbert is a
cynical placebo."
