The Cinderblock in a Brown Paper Bag Story

Once this friend of mine from New Jersey told me this story about something him and his friends used to do when they were kids. Him and his friends, or mostly just his friends, according to him, would go to a highway. They'd put cinderblocks in brown paper bags, and then they'd set them in the middle of the highway.

And then they'd watch, from a convenient hiding place. And people in their cars would zoom down the road, and thinking that the brown paper bags were just what they looked like (brown paper bags), they would not really pay much attention to them. I would imagine some people would totally ignore them. Others, being aggressive drivers, would purposely aim for the bags. Either way, people would end up driving right over what they thought were just paper bags.

But they weren't just paper bags. They were cinderblocks.

When I heard that, even though I thought that was a pretty mean thing for those kids to do, I knew that that was what I wanted to be. I want to be a cinderblock in a brown paper bag....

Anyway...
