Steev Hise is a mediamaker, activist, and reluctant computer geek, originally from Iowa and recently relocated to Tucson from Portland, Oregon. He did graduate studies in New Media at California Institute of the Arts and has been doing video work since the early 90s. He is actively involved with the Independent Media Center and the Tucson-based Dry River Radical Resource Center. In 2004-2005 Steev made "On The Edge," a documentary about the femicide in Ciudad Juarez and Chihuahua City, Mexico.

Other recent pieces include "Aftermath of Octubre" about Bolivia (2004), "A Million Dollars Later" about a visit to Portland by George Bush (2003), and "American Business Adventures," linking the Afghan invasion with the U.S. addiction to oil (2002).

Steev has licensed several films to Free Speech TV and has previously shown 2 short films at the Portland Documentary and eXperimental Film Festival (2002 and 2005). His website is http://detritus.net/steev
