Again, since you mentioned you were at least
inherehtly respectful of the ideas behind the laws, it
should be noted that the law DOES make very important
distinctions here. Songwriters royalties are pretty
much set in stone. Sample clearance (fair use or not)
does not have a definitive legal standard).

If something is so personal to someone that it cannot
be used outside of its own context, then it shouldn't
be used in the public domain. Painters, writers,
politicians and many other public figures have had to
endure ridicule, parody, satire and praise, often
through the appropriation of parts of their own work
or words, throughout the centuries and I can only
think that this is good.
