Burn Davoslac (formerly Calvados Beam Trio)

Highly rated Birmingham three piece. Dense meandering instrumental  
groove. Sort of punk-prog in a good way. (Single out on cult imprint on  
Bearos Records. EP on the way from LOCA).

MEME vs XAN

Brighton based Electronica MEME meets jazz/songster Lisa XAN (4AD) in a  
collaborative electronica project. (EP due out on LOCA in November  
2003).

Maz Plant Out

French Paris based Cinematic Electronica orchestral and string duo. (EP  
out on LOCA soon)

Ward

The lone voice of tortured washing machines, depressed armonica  
montages and complex photocopiers harmonies. Single of the year 2002  
(Record Collector Magazine). (Single on Static Caravan, Album out on  
LOCA available in shops now).

Also DJing from DJ Art Dictator (LOCA), Tome (Mirrordisc/LOCA), DJ  
Bj?rkmann (LOCA) and Bill (Static Caravan/Bearos/LOCA). Visuals from

LOCA is a Brighton based independent electronica and post-rock label 
that is releasing music under Open Source and Art Libre licenses.

LOCA RECORDS believes that the fight over Free/Libre and Open Source 
and Media is a struggle over the freedom of expression and the freedom 
of speech, radically opening up the possibilities of media. To this end 
LOCA is releasing music under so-called copyleft, a license that 
enables music writers to develop music collaboratively and equitably 
and then release it into the public domain. Using either the Open Audio 
license , the Creative Commons licence or the LOCA Public License , a 
derivative of the GNU Public License (GPL), LOCA hopes to provide the 
control necessary to prevent cynical exploitation of work that is 
released in this open way and to encourage others to do the same. We 
hope that musicians who contemplate using the work released in this 
manner will honour the license and release their work under a public 
license resulting in a radical bloom of creativity and artistic 
innovation.

We currently have releases from MEME, MAZ PLANT OUT, WARD, DOT, 
CALVADOS BEAM TRIO and ML with more coming in the new year. Including a 
major Open Source release titled Stick To What You Don't Know.
