The Streaming Lounge
It's tea time on the internet!
Sip some Earl Gray and listen to an internet event collaboration between Detritus.net and People Like Us.
Two simultaneous audio streams of sound collage will combine - People Like Us will broadcast a realaudio stream from Hull Time-based Arts in England, while Steev Hise will broadcast an mp3 icecast stream from Detritus headquarters in San Francisco, USA. Each performer will sample from the other's stream and re-use and recycle. People Like Us will also be accepting phone calls during the event at +44(0) 1482 216 446.
To hear the UK stream, you will need the realaudio player from Real Networks. To hear the US stream you can use the real player also, or any of several mp3 players, like Winamp (on Windoze), SoundJam or Audion (for the Macintosh), XMMS or mpg123 (unix). Listen to both streams at once, and make your own mix! Or, concentrate on one at a time. Afterall, we don't want to be responsible for something like sensory overload.....
When: March 16, 7:30 - 9:30pm, GMT (11:30am - 1:30pm PST). More info: People Like Us Streaming Lounge page.
>Upload mp3 sound files for use as source material for the event.
