hi all, For those of you in the Portland, OR area: i have set up
a little video nite for this thursday. In addition to being
anti-war many of the pieces use collage to great effect.

Blood and Oil: An evening of film and video against War
A Benefit for the War Resisters League, Portland Chapter

Thursday, February 27, 8 pm
The New Space, 1632 se 10th ave. Portland
$3-10 sliding scale donation

Join us for a collection of works that express opposition to the
United States government?s policies of violence and domination
for the sake of petrochemicals. The evening features Werner
Herzog?s 1992 film ?Lessons of Darkness? (52min), an apocalyptic
vision of the aftermath of the (first) Gulf War focusing on a
panorama of burning oil wells and ecological catastrophe, made
even more important as we prepare for a second episode in this
horrifying colonialist venture.
"The film could have been made to illustrate the Book of
Revelations. The music is by Mahler, Wagner and Verdi. Herzog, a
self-described director of landscapes, tours a planet of
white-hot skies, fiery geysers, billowing toxic fumes-the after
math of the eco sci-fi nightmare that was the Gulf War..." - The
Village Voice

Preceding Lessons of Darkness will be several short works by
local and regional artists, including:

?Now and Ever After?, by Karl Lind
"Homeland Security: It's in your Hands", by The White Ring
"The War Conspiracy", by Guerrilla News Network
?American Business Adventures, part 1? by Steev Hise
...and more...
