tho. Sample/collage/mash-up/buzzword musicians are just as valid as any
singer-songwriter.

As I recall, it's actually legal to sell such a thing; for example,
CD-ROMs of public domain or shareware software have been sold for years,
but the price must only reflect the cost of replicating/distributing/etc.
the CD; no "real" profit can be made. But more importantly, that dude
should chill the fuck out and stop playing copyright cop.
