You're absolutely right Steev, and I think most of us even saw this coming.
As time passes, less and less of what is free on the internet is going to
cease to be so - maybe even search engines, yahoo maps, webster.com, etc. I
think as more and more websites come to grips with the fact that nobody
clicks banner ads, we're going to see a lot more business models changing.
That doesn't mean I'm not frustrated by it though. Many of my
community-building attempts have been at mp3.com, and I had several more in
the works. All that work is being undone.
What they are essentially allowing though, is for every group to have a free
"3 song demo" online. If they were brand new, instead of a site that offered
unlimited space until now, people would probably find it a really good deal.
But who knows, they may even discontinue that within a year.
Any ideas how long IUMA.com can last? I imagine they're going to get swamped
within the next month.
