Ownership:
By entering your Remix in the Contest, you acknowledge and agree that (a)
Warner Bros. will maintain ownership of the Master and the Loops, and will
own all Remixes entered by you in the Contest (the Master, the Loops and
the Remixes being herein referred to as the "Materials"), and (b) the
publisher of "Deeper and Deeper"(MCA Music Publishing Inc/ASCAP), "Music"
(WB Music Corp/ASCAP and 1000 Lights Music Limited/Warner-Tamerlane
Publishing Corp/BMI), and "Ray of Light" (Almo Music/ASCAP) will own all
publishing rights in and to the Material."

And at the bottom of the samples page it says

"NOTE: <blah, blah, blah>....Enjoy this rare opportunity - using vocals
from one of the world's top stars - to create your own new music."

TO CREATE YOUR OWN NEW MUSIC! It's your own, but we own it. "We own your
own"? How can they contradict themselves like this? I guess it IS your own
until you submit it to Warner except that " 5. Use of the Loops: (c) any
use of the Loops other than as permitted by these Official Rules will
constitute a violation of the Contest rules and may constitute copyright
infringement."

Beside the doubletalk, their _granting_ you "this rare opportunity" is
laughable, too.

"Would Warner really -want- to maintain ownership of some wacked-out,
non-mainstream track that one of our bunch might be likely to submit? What
if you submit a track with samples that someone else might claim ownership
to?"

They are just going to choose the sweetest disco version submitted. It's
"ACID" for cryin' out loud. They don't care. If something sounds suspect
they won't use it. Isn't this just a ploy to sell something they "produce"
for free?

"My advice: submit a track with samples of other stuff that they'll never
get clearance for (make sure Warner doesn't already own them!)"

Run the original track through a filter, hehehe.

I already have the raw materials, and, although these songs do suck, I will
surely be playing around with them. But god save the suckers who actually
submit their tracks.
