VARIOUS MEMBERS OF NEGATIVLAND DOING VARIOUS LIVE THINGS IN SAN FRANCISCO
AND SEATTLE........

  1. THURSDAY AUGUST 2 DNA LOUNGE, San Francisco 9:00 PM...

THE CHOPPING CHANNEL makes its in-concert debut this Thursday!

As listeners of Negativland's Over the Edge radio program may know, The
Chopping Channel is a periodic show subject - an ongoing collaboration
between Don Joyce (from Negativland) Peter Conheim (from Wet Gate and
Negativland) and San Francisco's talented re-media manipulator known as
Wobbly. Guests on past Chopping Channel programs have included Yasuhiro
Otani (Tokyo) and People Like Us (UK).

The Chopping Channel is dedicated to the proliferation of chopped-up music
and sounds of all shapes and sizes, geared towards a Buying Public that's
simply too busy to listen to music the "old way" anymore. Volume discounts
abound as music from our special blender is tortured beyond recognition,
repackaged for easy handling, and presented to YOU in any manner of
configurations.

In an effort to "bust out of the box", this "loss leader" has decided to
put itself on the line for its buyers: to appear before a live audience and
offer New Chopped Up Sounds for immediate consumption, no excuses. No
hiding behind the mysterious veil of Radio... the Chopping Channel has a
face. Actually FOUR faces, as the group will be joined on-stage by our
frequent collaborator and Negativland memeber, The Weatherman, making a
rare live appearance.

This all happens at San Francisco's newly-reopened DNA Lounge
(http://www.DNAlounge.com/), located at 375 11th Street in San Francisco's
SOMA district, Thursday 2 August at 9:00 PM. Also on the bill will be a DJ
set by Nick Philip.

Tickets are $10 in advance, available on-line via Ticketweb (unfortunately
with a $3 service charge; our little Ticketweb has grown up to be a BASS):
http://www.ticketweb.com/user/?region=sfbay&query=detail&event=253648

We do expect tickets to be available at the door for no more than $12,
however. Don't let this go by!
*** DO NOT BE CONFUSED - THIS IS NOT A NEGATIVLAND PERFORMANCE ***

2. SATURDAY AUGUST 11th at INDEPENDENT MEDIA CENTER, Seattle, 2pm til 12pm

Negativland member Mark Hosler will be DJ-ing at the closing night
party/fundraiser for the "PhenomANON" art show at the Seattle Independent
Media Center located at 1415 3rd Ave Seattle between Pike and Pine

Here's some info about this very cool art show (in which Negativland has
some work).....

PHENOMANON: 2 DECADES OF EPHEMERAL URBAN GUERRILLA ARTFARE
CLOSING PARTY AND FUNDRAISER
SATURDAY, AUGUST 11, 2-12PM
$7 WITHOUT HOME-MADE STICKERS, $5 WITH HOME-MADE STICKERS

phenomANON is an exhibit of anonymous guerrilla street art from cities
around the world. More than 60 artists submitted thousands of stickers,
wheatpaste posters, graffiti stencils, 3-d street installments, photos of
street graffito, and more. phenomANON is now raising funds to bring the
show to San Francisco. After San Francisco, it will tour other cities
including NYC (ABC No Rio), Berlin, Barcelona, and Melbourne. Each city it
exhibits at it will accumulate art from each region. When the show returns
to Seattle next year, there will be a new exhibit of street art from
everywhere the show has traveled. phenomANON's mission is to unify street
artists and streets everywhere, create visual dialogue, and mobilize and
inspire a new generation of street art.

During the opening event, phenomANON hosted a "free sticker" table stocked
with thousands of stickers sent to us. Throughout the day, people rummaged
through the piles picking out stickers and including their own
contribution. There will be a repeat of the sticker table for the closing
show. Bring your own stack of stickers and get a discount at the door.
There will also be opportunities to make your own stickers at the closing
event.
