I don't agree. Certainly if all corporations were
run by Ganhdis and MLKs they would perhaps be kinder and
gentler for awhile - until their stockholders fired or
assasinated them.
I think of corporations as a certain kind of machine, and
some machines have certain tendencies toward certain uses
(think of assault rifles as being another example - they're
not much good for anything other than killing people). No
matter who is at the top controlling a corporation, the
nature of corporations ensure that they will be run a
certain way. This nature includes the current financial
structure and legal and cultural status which corporations
enjoy. Those can change though, and that's what we really
need to work on.
Most business schools simply teach their executives-to-be
how to be the very best at following the current rules of
corporate reality. Jailing the MBAs will just create a
temporary shortage of trained personnel, but others will
step in to fill the breach, and follow the same rules,
unless the rules get changed.
