Hey guys, I've been asked to take over the Wednesday night "Experimental
Free Improvisation Hour" at Kimo's.
This event has been going on every Wed. night from 8 to 9. It's a chance for
experimental musicians of all types to just show up, get placed in a small
group of strangers, and improv together. Depending on how many musicians
show up for the night, each "group" may play for 15-30 minutes, or if only a
few musicians show up (like it's been going recently) then they'll play for
the whole hour.
This is a great way to get into playing live shows and to meet new
musicians! Al Q, who books the music there on Wednesday nights, is providing
us with an excellent opportunity with this idea. He's been doing this for a
few months, but has had trouble finding both musicians and an audience for
it to really work. We have one more month to get this off the ground, or
they're going to do something else with the time slot.
Okay, here's the info in brief:
-Every Wednesday from 8 to 9 pm at Kimo's nightclub at the corner of Pine &
Polk. Admission is free before 9 pm. (Bands are on after us.)
-Bringing your own amplification is strongly suggested. There is a house PA,
but it doesn't sound that great and has only 1 direct line.
-Show up between 7:30 & 8 to get on the roster!
-Experimental musical of all types! Instrumental, noise, samples,
electronic, etc - we're hoping for some nice combinations.
-Unusual instruments and music makers especially encouraged! (No offense to
guitarists, but I'm trying to not to make this another guitar-centric event.
There will be some guitar players there.)
-Some sort of percussion would also be really nice, but please no drum
machine presets!
-email me for more details! mattdavignonAThotmail.com
Happy music making!
