if you dont care at all about quality just grab some crap at radio shack.
but, a relatively cheap but great sounding solution is a pair of binaural
mics. a good place to get them is at http://www.soundprofessionals.com/.
they have a few different kinds. i recently bought the ones that are
concealed into a pair of small walkman headphones. they're great for
discreet field recordings. if you wear them on your ears they're binaural,
if you put them around your neck, they;re regular stereo. also i recommend
their battery modules, which might be absolutely neccesary if you have a
cheap recorder that doesnt provide any voltage.
they've got cardioids too if you really want directionality. but i find
that the binaurals are great. they sound just like my ears heard it the
first time.
