it's funny also because ac/dc seem to perceive sampling of their song as
threatening. like it's some kind of voodoo spell that will nullify the
rock-ness of the original song (i could understand such sentiment if it was
vanilla ice wanting to sample, perhaps).
on the other hand, it shows a certain amount of principle to turn down
thousands (millions?) of dollars handed to you on a silver platter plus a
good amount of fresh exposure to potentially new audiences.
wait, scratch the world principle and replace with STUPIDITY.
i suppose, seriously, that ac/dc is worried that people will hear the
beasties "version" of their song and not want to hear the original ac/dc
version anymore. much the way people want to listen to led zepplin and the
rolling stones rather than old blues guitarists and singers. maybe ac/dc
isn't so stupid...?
we should try to gather our resources and make a website wholly dedicated
to sampling nothing but ac/dc. just have tons of audio pieces built solely
upon ac/dc tracks. can someone get a copy of the beasties tune?
what's the possibility of getting sued by ac/dc for doing this i wonder?
