it does seem like there's a general type on the list. with variations of
course. but i think mark has a point that the dj culture really is so
seperate - they have their own record stores fer cryin' out loud (in LA
anyway). i somehow very much doubt that the dj boys would go "Yo! check
out this rumori shit, yo. what up wit dat oswald mofo? detournment shit
is dope!"
ok i'm really generalizing now. but i think it's basically all about what
the focus is. the samples? or the beats? for rumori it's obvious that
the idea and concept and sounds are more interesting to talk about than the
beats. i mean, i can't recall too many threads about sampling beats here.
but i don't think there's anything wrong with self segregation really.
there's plenty of cross-culture-ists here i'm sure.
but just look at how quickly the thread turned into something about
Schwitters and Darger.....
